Women in technology has been a much discussed, researched, and addressed issue for years in our beloved industry. Many groups and businesses are working to promote, attract, and retain women in technology. A straight-forward and valuable approach to ensure young women choose a career path in technology is through higher education. An organization with a concerted effort to increase the number of women working in technology is Advancing Women in Technology (AWT) http://awtca.org/. AWT is annually providing financial assistance to young women interested in pursuing technology as a career path in the form of scholarship funds. Their mission statement – Advancing Women in Technology is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of women in technology through the endowment of educational scholarships and the creation of opportunities to enhance personal and professional growth, working closely with the business community to facilitate diversity and opportunity. Sandy Salty, VP Strategic Initiatives & Partnerships at Trace3, is a proud member of Advancing Women in Technology and honored to be included in their list of Rising Women in Technology for 2016. The efforts of AWT are invaluable to the technology sector and especially to the young women whom they help with financial assistance. You can help support the efforts of Advancing Women in Technology by attending their 15th Annual Wine Tasting & Scholarship Fundraiser on Thursday, Nov. 3, in Costa Mesa, California. One hundred percent of their fundraising proceeds support the AWT Charitable Foundation. Make plans to attend and help grow the number of Women in IT.
